Site Accessibility
We are committed to ensuring that our sites do not present an obstacle to users of assistive technologies whenever possible. When a site or page cannot be made to correctly function with assistive technologies we will seek a reasonable alternative offering the same information and services.
Under the 1995 Disability Discrimination Act, UK organisations are required to take 'reasonable steps' to ensure online services are accessible to people with disabilities.
We ensure a high degree of accessibility by providing alternative content for interactive elements and images as well as a fallback option for elements that take advantage of technologies such as Flash or AJAX which enables a high amount of interactivity. We follow the WCAG guidelines set out by the W3C. The main recommendations set out in this document are as follows:
- Provide equivalent alternatives to auditory and visual content.
- Don't rely on colour alone for differentiation.
- Use mark-up and style sheets and do so properly.
- Clarify natural language usage.
- Create tables that transform gracefully.
- Ensure that pages featuring new technologies transform gracefully.
- Ensure user control of time-sensitive content changes.
- Ensure direct accessibility of embedded user interfaces.
- Design for device-independence.
- Use interim solutions.
- Use of W3C guidelines.
- Provide context and orientation information.
- Provide clear navigation mechanisms.
- Ensure that documents are clear and simple.
Users' requirements may lead them to interact with a site differently from other users. This may include: viewing the site with enlarged text and a high contrast colour scheme in order to aid legibility; using screen reader software in place of a normal web browser in order to read the page aloud; using special input devices rather than a keyboard and mouse; accessibility is not only for disabled users.
An accessible site will also be beneficial for those on slow connections or with small screens, as well as widen access for people on mobile devices.
If you encounter any accessibility difficulties in using our websites, please contact customer.service@devere-hotels.com. The accessibility feedback we receive is used as a means of determining the accessibility changes we need to implement in future releases.
